(Click here to view screen snapshots) Software developer and Internet business brain TELEBODY INC. today announced it is the first company in the world to complete a large-scale software application based on Quicktime 4 (*) technology, Apple Computer's de facto standard for graphics, 3D, and television and radio braoadcasting over the World Wide Web for Macintosh(*) and Windows (*) computers. This technical development is allowing Telebody to offer a service to port Macintosh programs to Windows in a fraction of the time and money needed by traditional methods. Telebody was the main programmer of the Windows 98 (*) version of VxaStar, page definition software for digital typesetting printers used by over 1000 companies including NTT, Benesse, Gakken, and Mitsubishi for most trad itional Japanese printing including textbook and advertisement publishing. The first edition of the software anticipated many developments in popular drawing and layout applications, and is the only bridge between Japan's high-quality traditional pr inting environment and the world of personal computing and the Internet. Telebody took advantage of Apple Computer's decision to bring large parts of its Macintosh(*) operating system into Windows when building Quicktime For Windows (*), which allowed Telebody to move the highly interactive and graphics-intensive application from Mac to Windows. The high quality graphics needed by the project was not possible in Windows even a year ago, says Telebody President Matthew Rosin. "During our stress-testing and analysis of Quicktime we gained unique insight into a number of critical issues which puts Telebody in a unique position to develop cutting-edge applications using the transforming technologies of live Internet streaming video, MP3 audi o, open 3D graphics and the universal multimedia components that will drive the market for several years," said Rosin. According to Telebody Vice President Kazue Kimura, "We are more interested in the quality of human communications than in the tech nology by itself. To that end, this development effort has given us a head start in being able to provide the highest quality communications content for the next century." Telebody Inc. is a Japanese corporation based in Tokyo known for its twin strengths in network software development and in marketing and investment consulting for Japan market entry. Starting with building the first web site on the Japanese public Internet early this decade, Rosin and Kimura are known for having establish ed Japan's first full-service Internet Service Provider in 1994, including contents development through their art and technology "Creators' Lab," through which they introduced many network technologies to Japan following the opening of its telecommunicati ons market. Past technical development and business coordination projects include such clients as NTT, Cable & Wireless, AT&T, Sony, Silicon Graphics International, Canon, Netscape Communications, Infoseek, Metrowerks, Harmonix Music Systems, T oyo Keizai, TBS TV, CNN, Air France, and the United Nations.
